Patna : Capital city of Bihar





Patna is an ancient city that sprawls along the south bank of the Ganges River in Bihar, northeast India. The state capital. Its home to Bihar Museum. a contemporary landmark exhibiting bronze sculptures and old coins from the region. Nearby, Indo-Saracenic- style Patna Museum displays a casket believed to contain the Buddha's ashes. Close to the river. the Golghar is a domed colonial granary overlooking the city.

Patna is located on the southern bank of the river Ganges in Eastern India. The total area of Patna is 136 km2 (53 sq mi). Of this, the municipal area constitutes 99 km2 (38 sq mi), while the suburban area constitutes 36 km2 (14 sq mi). It an average elevation of 53 m (174 ft). A characteristic feature of the geography of Patna is at the confluence of rivers.

 Patna is the 21st fastest growing city in the world and the fifth fastest growing city in India, and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 3.72%.
